August 4 - August 8: Clay (full day)

Service Description

Let's take a deep dive into the fabulous world of clay (air-dry, handbuilding, wheel work, polymer clay etc) during this week-long camp that runs from 9 am to 3 pm. Weather permitting, we will get to harvest clay and discuss clay slurry (which is a very fun connection when we do papermaking and discuss paper slurry!). As with our afterschool classes, the camp learning experience is broken into two parts, the first one being a "tool box" lesson that everyone has together to ensure students are introduced to basic skills that will guide them, or act as "tools" in their creative exploration. After completing the tool box lesson, students will plan and propose projects to work on and have time to do so called "open studio." During open studio, children must exercise independence and responsibility as they get deeper into a medium that appeals to them. The studio offers an intimate creative environment in which I cater my instruction to support each child over time based on the child's interests and my observations. My goal is for your child to develop proficiency and independence in specific skills, and most importantly, gain confidence and courage in making decisions. Early drop off starts at 8:30 and late pickup ends at 3:30 pm, both are available upon request. :) Ideal for Ages 6 - 10 (but we are happy to welcome younger and older on a case by case basis upon discussion with parents)
