Service Description
Let your child take a deeper dive into the mediums of paint (watercolor, acrylic, tempera), air-dry clay, and paper-based crafts (origami, quilling, sketching/graphite, pastels etc.). Led by the amazing Kathleen Hamlet, this class will cover color theory, value, and other concepts to bolster your child's creative foundation. Our classes run 2 hours total, with a snack break before we dive into our work. The learning experience is broken into two parts, the first one being a "tool box" lesson that everyone has together to ensure students are introduced to basic skills that will guide them, or act as "tools" in their creative exploration. After completing the tool box lesson, students will plan and propose projects to work on and have time to do so called "open studio." During open studio, children must exercise independence and responsibility as they get deeper into a medium that appeals to them. The studio offers an intimate creative environment in which we cater our instruction to support each child over time based on the child's interests and my observations. The goal for your child is to develop proficiency and independence in specific skills, and most importantly, gain confidence and courage in making decisions. ***This class is for children 6 to 11 years of age, please message me first if your child is younger/older to determine if it is a good fit! *** Class Dates: September – 1, 15, 22, 29 October – 13, 20, 27 November – 3, 10, 17 December – 1, 8 *** 3 pm pickup from Harvard Elementary Available at an Additional Cost of $75/semester***
